Loews Coronado Bay Resort

If you are not familiar with Loews Coronado Bay Resort it is set on a private 15-acre peninsula surrounded by the Pacific Ocean and San Diego Bay. Isolated from the hustle of the city it is made even more magical with views of the city skyline. The resort can host your event, from a group spa day to an oceanfront wedding ceremony, to a post-celebration brunch on the Bay, and beyond. San Diego Weddings of Distinction very much enjoyed the views, the service, and the property at our October meeting.

It was a the perfect fall day, but in San Diego, it always feels like summer. The outdoor wedding of Stephanie and Matthew took place at the beautiful Hilton San Diego Bayfront, in one of the hotel’s outdoor gardens. The colors were blush , ivory and white, and against the backdrop of San Diego’s vibrant Bay, the ceremony was romantic as it was elegant.

The reception followed, not at the Hilton, but at the Westgate Hotel in the nearby Gaslamp District. The couple, in true fairy-tale fashion, made the few mile trek to the reception location via no other than, a horse carriage! Thanks to Always & Forever Carriage Company, Stephanie and Matthew kept the romantic spirit of their ceremony alive, and arrived to their reception to party the night away.

Thanks to the coordinating efforts of Carmin Cermak, all the details of the multi-location wedding had to be timed perfectly. And, of course, it was! Carmin also worked to coordinate the florals, which in line with the bride’s colors of blush, ivory and white, were soft and romantic.

The wedding cake was provided by Sweet Cheeks Baking Company. The cake was a classic, 4-tiered masterpiece, and just like this beautiful couple, it has elements that were romantic and whimsical.

Weddings are unique and are a reflection of the couple, their style and tastes, and their upbringing. For Adam and Sara, their Indian wedding was the perfect combination of tradition and fun! This particular celebration was the couple’s 2nd one, as the week prior the bride’s side of family enjoyed their own party.

Coordinated by Cristina Gold, Adam and Sara’s special day took place at the Marriott La Jolla. Weddings of Distinction members, Concepts Event Design and Republic of Music, provided the uplighting/market lights and the entertainment, respectively. Republic of Music is one of San Diego’s premier live music and DJ entertainment, and this wedding was no exception…they provided a 15 piece dance band, Cocktail Duo (piano/vocalist), Professional DJ, 2 DHOL players (indian drummers), projector screens, as well as stage trussing! Then, to top it all off, patterned gobos were spread out throughout the reception room and dance floor!

The wedding was extremely high energy, and entertainment centered around numerous Indian performances by friends and family. There were times, though, when the groom, himself, surprised the bride with not only a choreographed dance, but with his own musical debut on drums! The groom wanted this night to feel like a concert, and with all the details, the band, the staging and lighting and more, its safe to say, he got what he wished for!

You don’t hear about it often anymore, but for some, they meet “the one” early on in life. That is exactly how it was for Paulina and Adrian. They met in high school, when they both were in the same biology class. Fast forward 8 years, and the two were married in a classy, elegant wedding at the beautiful Marin Village Conference Center. Nestled right on the San Diego bay, the wedding featured amazing views of the water, custom cocktails and custom lighting in the shade of the wedding colors, purple and white! Paulina and Adrian’s wedding was elegant, yet remained traditional. It matched couple’s style perfectly! With all the special attention to detail, and a DJ that played tunes well into the night, the couple and their guests enjoyed quite a party!

real wedding :: wendy + john

When you meet that special someone, you just know. And, for Wendy and John, even though they lived across the country when they met, their love could not be broken by distance. This super sweet couple met at a barbecue, and for the first few years of their relationship, they managed long distance, with John in New Hampshire and Wendy in San Diego!!

Yet the distance would not be forever. The couple married at the gorgeous La Jolla Woman’s Club this spring and their bright, yellow sunshine-themed wedding perfectly complimented the happiness that this couple represents. With the help of wedding coordinator and WOD vendor, Ann’s Plans, Wendy got a lot of her ideas for decor from Pinterest. Wendy loved the Billy Balls in her bouquet and that inspired a lot of the designs.

The food was provided by another WOD vendor, Personal Touch Dining.

Wendy and John’s happy ending?… after the wedding, Wendy and her Mom moved to New Hampshire to be with John and his work!

Spring into wedding season with some spring/summer wedding inspiration!

One of San Diego’s leading wedding magazines, Exquisite Weddings, is hosting its spring issue launch party, and this year, it will be held at the amazing Maderas Golf Club on Tuesday, May 6th. Located in the heart of Old Poway, this venue boasts not only amazing event space, but lovely historic charm.

If you are a bride/groom, or if someone close to you is getting married, this evening of wedding inspiration is an event not to be missed!

Happy 10th Birthday to Ceremony Magazine

Happy 10th Birthday to one of the special wedding magazines in San Diego, Ceremony Magazine!

Weddings of Distinction as a group, as well as many of our wedding vendors individually, advertise with Ceremony Magazine, and as such, an invitation was extended to celebrate the magazine’s 10th birthday.

The event took place at Rancho Las Lomas, up in the Orange County area, but that did not stop Weddings of Distinction vendors, Sweet Cheeks Baking Co., Sensational Treats, and Kristina Chartier Photography from being directly involved. Sensational Treats brought their mini donuts and snack for the attendees, and Sweet Cheeks Baking offered cake displays to incorporate onto the tablescapes and staging area.

Watch the video below to see just how special the night was, and notice all the work that went into planning and executing such an event. Vendors from San Diego and beyond came together and worked together, not only to network and share ideas, but to honor a magazine that has made a profound name for itself among brides and wedding professionals alike in Southern California!

old Hollywood bridal style | vintage wedding inspiration

It’s ‘Wedding Wednesday,’ and in honor of bridal inspiration, here is a look that never will go out of style: Old Hollywood Glam! Recently, many of the Weddings of Distinction vendors came together for a styled shoot in honor of time long gone. With vintage-inspired gowns from Elyse Reuben; accessories and hair pieces by Sandra Nicole Designs; and hair and makeup styling by Beauti On the Go, photographer, Studio Carré Photographie, captured some amazing images that both honor the look of Old Hollywood and the vibrancy of modern-day photography.

The looks are romantic, but the details are bold, whether through jewelry, headpieces, and/or makeup. The Westin Hotel Gaslamp San Diego, a Weddings of Distinction venue, was the backdrop for the shoot, and with the hotel’s simple architecture yet modern feel, the beauty of the photos really stand out.

Old Hollywood style and grace truly is iconic. The work these these vendors put into this shoot captures the era perfectly. So, while the time may have come and gone, but the ability to incorporate such glamour into modern looks is possible! Let the photos be your proof!
