When you’re in a group as special as Weddings of Distinction, there is no better way to start off a new year than with a networking meeting, and when its at the Top of the Hyatt at the Manchester Grand in downtown San Diego, there is no classier and more beautiful way to kick off a new year!
With stunning panoramic views of the bay and of downtown San Diego, the Top of the Hyatt in the Manchester Grand is one of our more urban wedding locations in the group. The location boasts the label as the tallest waterfront hotel on the West Coast, and as such, offers guests a truly unique and special view of America’s Finest City.
We dined on a four-course meal, which started with appetizers and drinks (on the patio and inside), and ended with a custom dessert made by the Hyatt’s world-renowned chef. We heard from the Hyatt about the packages they offer couples getting married, locations, and more. We also heard from the newest rep from Sensational Treats, Sheri Kapinski.
The afternoon was cheerful, informative, and as always, it was great to reconnect with colleagues. February’s meeting will take place at the Bali Hai Restaurant. Stay tuned!

We traveled up to North County for May’s Weddings of Distinction luncheon, and Lomas Santa Fe Country Club was gracious enough to host our meeting.
The space was beautifully decorated, thanks to Lois Mathews Design for the floral arrangements, and guests were able to mix and mingle while enjoying coffee and tea.
During the delicious meal of steak salad, and an amazing chocolate ravioli dessert, we heard from some of our newest members, Manchester Grand Hyatt, Diane D’Angelo, and La Jolla Cove Suites. We also heard from seasoned WOD member, Pink Star Design, who brought in some amazingly creative invitation samples.
We also had a very special guest, Dina, Owner/Publisher San Diego Style Weddings, attend, and she spoke to the group about special incentives for advertising for the upcoming season.
It was a wonderful afternoon, as usual, and a great opportunity to welcome our new members and network with our old!

John and Dion were married at the First United Methodist Church in Mission Valley – a magnificent, awe inspiring church with grand architecture and beautiful stained glass everywhere. Weddings of Distinction members Lisa of elle.g photography photographed their day; French Gourmet designed the one-of-a-kind cake; and, the Manchester Grand Hyatt Hotel hosted the reception. Held on the KIN|SPA pool deck overlooking downtown and the harbor, this beautiful venue was just steps away from their final destination – a cruise ship headed for Cabo San Lucas, Mexico. During the reception, you could hear the horn of the cruise ship beckoning the newlyweds. John and Dion graciously invited/hosted a large group of their closest friends and family for the weeklong cruise. Dion remarked after reliving the day “All the pictures are amazing, they almost made me want to cry….good.”
………another thrilled Weddings of Distinction bride!
Amber and Will were married in San Diego at the Manchester Grand Hyatt, a spectacular wedding venue that featured a ceremony site overlooking the San Diego waterfront and a gorgeous large ballroom. The couple hired wedding planner Cynthia, of Cynthia Zatkin Events, to coordinate every aspect of their day from start to finish. Since the bride has a young son and they spend many of their days off at Disneyland, the couple chose the theme of a fairy-tale ball and, by capitalizing on the design skills of Cynthia, created a grand Disney look through their selection of flowers, colors, and decor pieces. Musicians, Silverwood, enhanced the mood by playing Disney love songs for the ceremony and cocktail hour.
