news + press :: sweet cheeks turns 5!

The lovely ladies of Sweet Cheeks Baking Co. threw a heck of a 5th birthday bash this year…complete with a butter cream slip ‘n’ slide! There was no shortage of frosting when it came time to suit up and go for it. Along with their very own cupcake wars, there was pinatas, yummy bbq lunch, rockin music (courtesy of Artistic Productions), and homemade goodies and birthday cake. If you weren’t able to make it, you missed out on a great time!

news :: march’s meeting at the catamaran hotel

Weddings of Distinction hosted a bridal panel for its membership this past March at the fabulous Catamaran Resort. Kudos to Amber, Tracey, Sylvia, Kristin & Taylor and, of course, the chef and staff for a tasty and, as always expected, wonderful luncheon. A shout out to our bridal panel participants (future and past brides & groom): Emily, Allie, Dr. Thy, Felicia, Carolyn, Amy, Cailin & Geoff and Becky. Thx for your open candor and thoughts as we “grilled” you about your thought process on planning and executing your wedding day! Very eye-opening and educational. Thank you to our members who donated their services for a sparkling Board Room visit, as well. The Catamaran rocks for special events and weddings!

real weddings :: lynley + mitch

Lynley and Mitch - Studio Carre' Photographie

Lynley and Mitch’s outdoor wedding took place at the waterfront Ocean View Villas. Because their families are so close, they wanted a more inclusive, relaxed, and fun atmosphere and Carmin with Carmin Design was the perfect coordinator to make this all happen! Carmin also used her talents and created some beautiful tropical floral arrangements, along with colorful bouquets, and adornments for the tables. Amazing food was served up by the grooms cousin from San Diego’s local Tractor Room along with delicious kebobs by Ohana Catering…and to finish it off whoopie pies and cake from Sweet Cheeks Baking Co.

news :: february’s meeting at the bristol hotel

The Bristol Hotel in downtown San Diego opened its doors (and roof) to Weddings of Distinction for our February luncheon/meeting.  Kudos to Meredith Bell from H Events & Ashley Cecaci from The Bristol‘s Catering Dept. for hosting us. Chef Travis Flood dazzled us with delicious tray passed hors d’oeurves, wine, iced tea an awesome entree choice between grilled salmon with crushed baby potatoes, green beans, toasted almonds & herb creme fresh and grilled skirt steak with yukon potato-corn roast, avocado, pico de gallo & chipotle aioli. Hats off, too, to House of Stemms for their decor.

Our President ~ Ann Strobel, led a spirited icebreaker where too much personal info was probably shared (lol) but laughs were had by all. Jenn Ragusa, from Pink Star Design, displayed a gorgeous table of her invitation and social invite offerings. It was great to hear her tale of her background & her dedication to her craft. We’re proud to have her as a distinctive member of the group!!

Much networking and bonding was had by all. When you are referred to a member of Weddings of Distinction, you are assured a quality, reputable, experienced professional who will not only meet, but exceed your expectations for your special event.
